Hidden Shadows of a Past Love

I had the strangest dream last night.
I was walking down a familiar street, and suddenly there he was, as if no time had passed.
We just looked at each other awkwardly, like strangers trying to find a common thread.
Waking up with that strange squeeze in my chest made me wonder if part of me still holds onto what we had, or maybe it’s just the mind playing tricks while I chase new beginnings.
Sometimes I think about how peaceful life could’ve been if everything just faded away easily.
